Speers Construction Inc. is proud to have safety at the top of its priorities. We are continually improving our health and safety program to support a progressive safety culture.
Safety Manager
Speers safety program is a differentiator between other Mid Sized Heavy Civil Companies. The Teams depth of experience conducting hazardous work safely brings value to every job site.
Speers has committed to safety by being COR certified since 2006, SAFE certified with the B.C. forest safety council since 2007, and a member of ISNetworld.
Ongoing training for our employees is a key component of our safety program and we promote a variety of both “in house” and external training; including but not limited to:
First Aid, Supervisor Training, S100, Confined Space, Gas Monitoring, Hoisting & Rigging, WHMIS, Transportation of Dangerous Goods, Due Diligence, Environmental Training, and Avalanche Awareness.
The Speers Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee (JOHSC) consists of employees, supervisors, and management. The JOHSC meets monthly to review safety at all our job sites.
The committee acts as a liaison between supervisors and employees, where all members are encouraged to discuss safety concerns and possible solutions that enhance our culture of safety.
The Green Hand Program is in place to acknowledge and address the challenges of new and young workers joining the company.
The idea is to engage and mentor new or inexperienced workers (green hardhats) into safety related conversations with experienced workers.
Speers is committed to mentorship, which is a valuable component of a robust safety program and builds a culture of safety within the company.
